Siesta Key Struts Luxury Homes

SARASOTA, FLORIDA, January 4th, 2017 – Siesta Key reaffirmed its stature recently as one of the top destinations of luxury homes for sale in the Suncoast with the market listing in December of a $13.9 million residence at the Sanderling Club on the southern part of the island.

This gated estate home nestles on a 3.64-acre gulf-to-lagoon site at 8218 Sanderling Road. It has a floor area of 8,638 square feet designed with five bedrooms, five full baths, and two half bathrooms. In addition, this residence built in 1986 has a pool and spa, steam room and sauna, and an oversized sunroom.

Sanderling’s Rare Pedigree

It is Siesta Key’s second priciest home; its neighbor, also a gulf-to-lagoon property at 7712 Sanderling Road, is sales-listed at $18 million and features three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a half bath. Dubbed as the Aquadisia, this residence sits within a parcel of nearly four acres with a 529-foot beachfront in addition to its 155-foot frontage on Heron Lagoon.

Dating back to the 1940s, the Sanderling Club takes pride in having maintained a park-like setting within its enclave of high-end single family homes. Developed meticulously on the theme of ecology with an aesthetic feel, this community provides impressive amenities.

These include a bayside marina and the community’s centerpiece, a Paul-Rudolph-designed gulf-front clubhouse which provides sweeping vistas from its large patio and grill area. Sanderling Club also features two Har-Tru tennis courts, cozy waterfront cabanas, and 24-hour security.

Other Multimillion-dollar Picks

Up the northern end of Siesta Key, three multimillion-dollar properties were also sales-listed in December. One is at 4205 Higel Street, the Villa del Paradiso, a Venetian-inspired estate home designed with over 8,500 square feet featuring four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a half bath. Built in 2008, it has an asking price approaching $6 million, a quote leveraged by the home’s quality construction, the superb craftsmanship of its interior finish, and its amazing location off the protected waters of Roberts Bay.

On Shell Road west of this property, two adjoining beachfront lots are being offered separately. The north parcel is priced a shade under $4 million and sits on a 1.25 acre lot with a six-bedroom home with a floor area of 5,000-plus square feet. The south parcel is a vacant one-acre lot priced at $4.35 million.

Riding on the Siesta Franchise

Meanwhile, Paradise Plaza across Siesta Drive Bridge to the east on the mainland is capitalizing on Siesta Key’s strong franchise in the market. Slated for an upgrade, this 139,000-square-foot commercial center announced that it is renaming the property to Shops at Siesta Row. Some $600,000 will be spent on its renovation which includes upgrade of the facades and signage.

The neighboring Westfield Southgate Mall has also notably undertaken a redevelopment project and has adopted a new name—Westfield Siesta Key. Farther down on South Tamiami Trail, the Siesta Promenade is likewise being pushed in a proposed mixed-use project of Benderson Development.

Across this planned development, the Siesta Key franchise is similarly at play in Esplanade by Siesta Key, one of the new communities of national homebuilder Taylor Morrison. Though not in the league of the island’s multimillion-dollar residences, the properties here could be counted too among prime Sarasota homes for sale with their price points in the $500s and $800s.
