SARASOTA, FLORIDA, March 28th, 2016 – A strategy launched last year seeking to take the economy of Bradenton to the next level is fast gaining traction as three companies early in 2016 announced plans either to expand or relocate in the area.
This multi-year strategy, dubbed as the “Build Bradenton Area Plan,” aims to expand economic opportunities both for residents and existing businesses including players on the local housing market. It was launched in August 2015 by the Bradenton Area Economic Development Council (EDC) which is tapping its network of community leaders and partner agencies to draw new locators and stimulate business expansion locally.
The Bradenton EDC’s networking efforts paid handsome dividends February 2016 as the international aerospace firm Safran announced it is moving its subsidiary Aerosource from New Jersey to the Manatee County facility of its Labinal Power Systems unit. This transfer is expected to create 84 additional jobs in the Labinal operating facility located at Whitfield Avenue, just off U.S. 301.
Notably, this location is only about a mile east of Sara Bay Country Club and the pleasant neighborhoods of Whitfield Estates. Many of the Sarasota homes for sale here have golf course views and are attractively priced starting in the $200s up to the $500s.
Up north in Bradenton’s central business district, there will also be newcomers moving in soon with SUNZ Holdings transferring its Sarasota corporate headquarters to a six-story building at 1301 6th Avenue West that it purchased from Missouri-based First Bank in December last year. The new SUNZ home base sits just a short distance east of the waterfront homes of Bay View Park and the historic residential neighborhood of Wares Creek.
A provider of workers’ compensation insurance solutions and related products, SUNZ is initially bringing in over 50 employees, with prospects of hiring more in the future. The company in 2015 had a 200% increase in staff, and it does not foresee this growth rate dropping, says its president, Terri Stevens. SUNZ’s new offices will occupy 30,000 square feet out of the building’s available space of 60,000 square feet to provide capacity for its rapid growth and future expansion plans.
From downtown Bradenton, EDC’s drive to attract locators has also spilled across the Manatee River, with Illinois-based En-Vision America Inc., an advanced manufacturing and technology company, putting up its sales and administrative offices in Palmetto. For these functions, the company purchased a 10,000-square-foot facility located at 825 4th Street West only a block north of the inviting riverfront condominium, Regatta Pointe. Housing-wise, the affordably priced Palmetto homes for sale near Sutton Park and Palmetto Historical Park can possibly pick up some steam too as these are just a short distance north of the En-Vision America facility.
En-Vision America’s Palmetto operations jibe with the EDC’s strategy to develop the Bradenton area as a Florida West Coast hub for life sciences. To bring in additional capital investment and high-impact jobs, the four-year Build Bradenton Area Plan is also targeting industrial concerns and companies in agriculture technologies, advance manufacturing, clean energy, aerospace, and sports performance.
