Want Diverse Family-Oriented Activities? The Suncoast Got You Covered

SARASOTA, FLORIDA, September 29th, 2016 – There will never be a dull weekend or holiday for families living in the Suncoast, with Sarasota county alone having over 160 parks offering some 55,000 acres of wonderful play spaces. Outside of these public facilities, new venues have been recently added, thus enhancing further the marketability of Sarasota homes for sale.

One recent exciting addition is EVO Athletics which opened in August 2016 and boasts of world-class training facilities for gymnastics, cheerleading, and Ninja Warrior obstacle courses. Other amenities in the venue include a dining lounge and a clean and comfortable viewing area for guardians or parents.

This athletic training hub is located in a new 32,000-square-foot building at 7188 15th Street East just across the campus of the Sarasota Bradenton Commerce Center. Sprawling west of the EVO facilities are Sarabay Country Club and the neighborhoods of Whitfield Estates. Residents here, incidentally, have the bragging rights to living in Sarasota’s first golf community which remains a favored search destination for Sarasota homes for sale.

Want Diverse Family-Oriented Activities? The Suncoast Got You Covered

EVO too has something new to brag about following its grand opening. Shortly after its summer inauguration, it introduced Aimee Boorman as its executive director of women’s gymnastics and elite coordinator. Notably Boorman was one of the coaches of 2016 Rio Olympics gymnastics sensation Simone Biles.

The athletic training facility followed up this widely welcomed appointment with an announcement in September 2016 that EVO is acquiring the 10-year old Suncoast Volleyball Club. EVO called this a key strategic acquisition in pursuit of its objective to provide a family-friendly destination and additional athletic options. Suncoast Volleyball Club offers a variety of volleyball activities throughout the year with programs for athletes from ages 4 to 18. Besides indoor facilities, the EVO Athletics’ sand court for beach volleyball training is now available to the club.

In November 2015, EVO acquired the six-year old Dynasty Elite Cheerleading Company, touted as the largest all-star and recreational cheer and dance training establishment in Manatee and Sarasota counties. Besides acquiring the company and its equipment, EVP hired Dynasty’s former owner, Jim Lassiter, as cheer program director, to beef up its staff in recreational and competitive cheerleading, gymnastics, and Ninja Warrior training.

New Trail Tells a Story

Meanwhile, a bit up north in Bradenton, a family-oriented feature called the StoryWalk trail was opened in September around a freshwater lake at the 200-acre Tom Bennett Park. This quarter-mile pathway has been lined with posts, some 15 to 30 paces apart, each displaying a page from a children’s book.

Appropriately enough, the first book feature of this trail is I Took a Walk by Henry Cole which tells of a little boy taking a stroll through different habitats, some of which are identical to those at Bennett Park. Plans call for changing the featured book every quarter, and park officials are eying community partners for assistance on the cost entailed in posting new books.

Some support could possibly come from nearby communities’ homeowners’ associations, such as those at Heritage Harbour just east of Bennett Park. Amongst the neighborhoods in this master-planned development are River Strand and a new destination for Bradenton homes for sale—Townhomes at Regatta Landing. Their residents would certainly be supportive of a new family-oriented park feature within easy reach from their communities and thus help boost the value of their properties.
