Downtown Makeover Boosts List Price of Sarasota Condos for Sale

SARASOTA, FLORIDA, May, 7, 2013 – The continuing efforts at a makeover of the downtown district in Sarasota which have been intensifying recently augur well for property values in the downtown area. This May, widening and bricklaying in city sidewalks and parking areas are scheduled to start around Gulf Stream Avenue, Main Street, and Palm Avenue, where a new condominium, The Jewel, is set to break ground in July this year.

The project is being implemented with the coordinated efforts of the city government of Sarasota and the Downtown Improvement District (DID) composed of property owners in the city center. The project which likewise involves the condo developer, T. Mannausa & Co., call for the installation of new LED street light fixtures, tree-planting, and landscaping. A similar undertaking is set to follow next at the Palm Avenue block up to Five Points Plaza.

Mixed-use residential offerings

In September last year, DID completed a refreshing landscape upgrade of the southern stretch of Palm Avenue. The project included not only paver sidewalks, park benches, and new plants and trees but also irrigation for the greeneries. The property owners’ organization was also behind the rehab of the Selby Five Points Park bounded by Main Street, Pineapple Avenue, First Street, and Central Avenue. Besides the enhanced landscape, the rehabilitated park has become more inviting with its evening display of LED tree lights funded with a grant from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation.

Five Points Plaza

The Plaza at Five Points is one mixed-use Sarasota real estate development which has directly benefited from the park right in front of the 16-story condominium with neoclassical architectural style. It has 49 luxury residences with floor spaces ranging from 1,800 to 2,300 square feet. Besides these units, the condo also has four penthouse suites with floor areas ranging from 3,500 to 4,500 square feet.

The Jewel condo which will start construction in July this year a short distance west of Five Points is also a mixed-use development. This project is geared for 17 stories, set to grab Sarasota downtown’s bragging rights as the tallest condo when completed. It will house just 18 luxury residential condos, with 17 already pre-sold.

Among these are a 20-meter lap pool, plus jacuzzi and spa. His design also includes a yoga room, a tennis court, and a six-hole putting green.
