Englewood Isles is a large community off State Road 776 (Englewood Road), primarily offering a waterfront lifestyle to prospective buyers of Sarasota homes for sale in South County. This property spreads directly south of Forked Creek and was developed with four other bodies of water within its acreage—the canals called Waterford and Windsor plus Eden Lake and another lake named Windsor as well.

The development of Englewood Isles commenced in 1971, and with the community’s superb maintenance, the property’s landscaping has matured beautifully. Run as a deed-restricted community, Englewood Isles is comprised of six subdivisions with a total of more than 550 residences. Besides single family homes, condos and villas are also the residential types adopted for this development that was undertaken in three phases.

Three-pronged Development

The first phase of Englewood Isles covers its Units 1 and 2 located just off the community’s impressive entrance on SR 770. Wedged between Forked Creek and the community’s main internal street of Englewood Isles Parkway, this phase alone contributed 184 dwellings to the stock of Sarasota homes for sale. Include amongst these are some of the community’s larger and relatively more expensive creekside residences with direct water access.

Englewood Isles’ Unit 3 took shape around 1975, with its three sides on the flanks of Waterford and Windsor Canals. Besides these endearing water features, this neighborhood of 73 single family homes, condos and villas nestles within a bird sanctuary.

The rest of the Englewood Isles’ subdivisions in Units 4‒6 were developed last, and home construction here continued well into the 1980s and 1990s. These neighborhoods are composed of 312 dwellings on the south flank of Englewood Isles Parkway, with several of the home sites platted around Eden Lake.

The architectural styles common in this community are Florida ranch and Florida modern, with some residences also standing out with the Mediterranean flavor in their two-story builds. The typical price quotes for these larger homes with direct water access hover in the $800s‒$900s range. These upper-end choices come with floor areas ranging from 4,300 to 5,200 square feet featuring three to four bedrooms, plus private pools, covered lanais, and private docks and boat lifts as added come-ons to prospective buyers of Sarasota homes for sale.
