Farmers Market Leads New Bradenton Retailers

SARASOTA, FLORIDA, August 9, 2019 – Several retail centers are set or are in the pipeline around Manatee County, spurred by the region’s vibrant residential property sector. This August, a new farmers market is scheduled to open at the Oneco Square Shopping Center on 5108 15th Street East.

Nearby neighborhoods bound to reap immediate benefits from this new retail center include those in the golf community of Peridia and in the subdivision of Wallingford where two residences were listed recently in the MLS of Bradenton homes for sale.

A total of 115 vendors are coming in the Oneco retail center’s 26,000 square feet of space formerly the hub for a Winn-Dixie supermarket. These new vendors are bringing in a wide selection of goods ranging from seafood to fresh produce.

A Gourmet’s Delight

The Oneco shopping complex occupies a 15-acre site with a total of 128,536 square feet of commercial space. In addition to the farmers market, it is also set for 11 local restaurants specialized in various cuisines including American, Central American, Mexican and Chinese. Existing tenants already include a Subway sandwich shop and a Chinese restaurant, as well as franchisees for City Trends Clothing and Dollar General.

New businesses that have recently opened or have signed leases in Oneco are a Caribbean restaurant, Mexican restaurant, ice cream shop, game room, barbershop, hair salon, Music Go Round, Boost Mobile, Habitat for Humanity Restore, and a tax preparation office.

The Oneco retail center’s acreage has been spruced up recently with new landscaping and a repaved parking lot. An outdoor children’s play area is also planned along with free outdoor movie showing in the first Saturday of the month.

All these improvements follow a change of the commercial center’s ownership. Oneco Center Holdings LLC of Fort Lauderdale took over the property in late 2017, buying it for $4.9 million from the former owner, Harwin Tobin Oneco Square LLC of Hollywood.

Bradenton’s Costco Debuts

Meanwhile, the membership warehouse club Costco, is opening a Bradenton location also this August. Its discount store will serve Costco members at 805 Lighthouse Drive just south of the residential neighborhoods of Heritage Harbour.

Costco likewise has presence in South Sarasota at Westfield Square near Palmer Ranch. It offers a wide selection of goods including not only groceries but also merchandise from its pharmacy and specialty departments.

New Bets in Ellenton

North of Bradenton, the home décor superstore chain At Home is opening this fall a location on the east side of 60th Avenue East in Ellenton. It will occupy a 94,000-square-foot commercial space which K-Mart vacated in March.

Also in this 60th Avenue East area, plans are being finalized to develop the Springs of Ellenton. Its features include 120,000 square feet of commercial space, a 50,000-square-foot movie theater, and a 330-room hotel.

Ellenton Premium Outlets is currently the dominant commercial center in this area north of the Manatee River. Several infrastructure improvements are notably on the drawing board to address the expected growth of traffic in this area.

One of these projects is the widening of 60th Avenue East to six lanes from U.S. 301 to the Premium Outlets’ entrance and construction of a roundabout at that intersection.
