SARASOTA, FLORIDA, November 7th, 2013 – Enterprising and career-oriented individuals eyeing to relocate in Southwest Florida would be well-advised to consider the North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota area among their top options. Sarasota Bay Real Estate notes that this metropolitan statistical area (MSA) has been ranked by Forbes magazine as one of the top 200 Best Places for Business and Careers for 2013.

The MSA was ranked 92nd in the Forbes list which homed in on North Port in its area description as this is Sarasota County’s largest city. It has an area covering about 75 square miles and has almost 60,000 residents with age 40 as the median.

Job creation improves

The Forbes’s editors’ criteria in the MSA rankings included job growth, work force, and median home prices. Health care and insurance were listed as the major industries in the North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota area which has a combined population of 721,400, 28.3% of which have college attainment.

The area posted a job growth of 2.4% in 2012, for a 195th ranking nationwide. It has leveled up further this year based on the second quarter report of the Bureau of Labor Statistics showing that the MSA added 1,100 jobs on an annual basis. In the 12 months ended May 2013, the area was ranked 148th nationally in terms of jobs created.

The unemployment rate in the area, as a result, has improved significantly from the estimated 8.8% last year and now stands slightly below both the national and state levels. Forbes placed unemployment in the MSA at 7%, which compares with the 7.6% national average and the 7.4% state rate as estimated by the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation.

The Forbes ranking put the area’s gross metro product at $24.9 billion and median household income at $47,344. Median home price was placed at $171,900.

Options on condos or single family homes

Warm Mineral Springs

Sarasota Bay Real Estate says there are plenty of attractive choices in North Port around this median price. Close to the city’s famous Warm Mineral Springs, the MLS of Sarasota homes for sales features listings with two to three bedrooms within floor plans measuring from 1,400 to 1,600 square feet.

In Bradenton, the choices for residences priced from the mid- to the high $100s currently include some 150 options on condos and single family homes. Palma Sola Harbour, for instance, has an available canalfront, two-bedroom unit at this price range. The maintenance-free community of Meadowcroft too has a newly listed, similarly priced offering in a single family home with two bedrooms within its floor area of nearly 1,700 square feet.

Choices in Sarasota golf communities

The alternatives are even more diverse in Sarasota City where new listings include a three-bedroom single family home at the South Gate subdivision. This gem of a find has a floor area of 1,600-plus square feet and a selling price set at $150,000.

Sarasota condos for sale starting in the mid-$100s are as enticing, and alternatives are plenty as well. At this price level, Heritage Oaks and Stoneybrook are two golf communities which have several attractive listings.
