SARASOTA, FLORIDA, May, 11, 2013 – The marketability of Bradenton homes for sale around IMG Academy in west Manatee, Florida, rose some notches higher as the sports-oriented school broke ground this April for a world-class, multisport complex, Sarasota Bay Real Estate reports.
The construction of the state-of-the-art facility is part of a five-year, multimillion-dollar project which would eventually expand the academy to 500 acres.
The construction of the modern stadium, set to open in August this year, marks the first phase of the expansion. Among the features of this facility, which can seat up to 10,000 spectators, are a Bermuda grass field surface of pro quality, TV broadcast-ready lighting, a regulation eight-lane track oval, press box with media support amenities, and a collegiate-type video board. Likewise, a new, lighted baseball stadium will be built, an additional diamond field which can rival any U.S. spring training facility.
The project’s second phase is expected to be completed this December. It calls for building a 40,000-square-foot field house which will have not only multiple locker rooms and meeting areas but also offices.
A facility for research and development on sports performance will be the focus of the project’s third phase. It will be made available as a testing ground for companies with sports and sports-related products, like Gatorade, Prince, and Under Armour. Additional multi-sports venues will also be constructed to bring to more than 20 IMG’s fields for baseball, football, soccer and lacrosse.
Campus life at the IMG Academy, which specializes in the integrated delivery of athletics and academics, will also be enriched by the opening of a new university-style residence hall. With its new facilities, the campus hopes to level up its hosting of national and international competitions via the newly created IMG Performance division. This unit owns and manages over a hundred major events in soccer, baseball and other sports tournaments.
The residential communities which enjoy proximity to the IMG Academy include The Fairways at Conquistador and Valencia Garden, which are golf communities essentially, Sarasota Bay Real Estate said. While no property at the Fairways is currently featured in the MLS of Bradenton homes for sale, townhouse-type condos are sales-listed at Valencia Garden. These available residences have options on two- or three-bedroom units in floor areas ranging from 1,400-plus square feet up to 1,700 square feet, priced in the $100s. The residents of this community have access to the facilities of the IMG Golf and Country Club which does not charge mandatory membership.
