LWR Gets Better with Time

Count in Lakewood Ranch (LWR) among many things that get better with time. For seven weeks in October and November 2014, this master planned development showed how it has mellowed like vintage wine over the years, treating prospective buyers with even more scintillating choices of Sarasota homes for sale in its 17th annual fall Tour of Homes.

The 2014 event is a showcase for more than 30 models by 12 builders, reaffirming LWR’s stature as one of the premier master-planned communities in the U.S. Because of the increased traffic and great response to the models’ open house during the 2013 tour, the recent event was extended by three weeks.

Newest neighborhoods on the limelight

LWR Gets Better with Time

The 2014 Tour is apropos for the debut of the three newest neighborhoods in LWR’s Country Club East—Windy Hill, Seacroft, and Collingtree. These new additions bring in an additional 143 homes in the 328-lot luxury subdivision favored for its fabulous views of the Royal Lakes golf links, shimmering water views and lush nature preserves.

LWR’s annual open house likewise brings into focus the high-end homes at The Lake Club wherein luxury homebuilder Murray Homes was earlier named as the eighth official builder. This Sarasota-based company has been named as the exclusive builder in The Lake Club’s Staysail Court neighborhood.

Growing list of amenities

Major additions to the various amenities available at Lakewood Ranch also get their share of the limelight in the 2014 tour. Two of these are the new 18-hole golf course and Amenity Center at the Esplanade Golf and Country Club, developed by national homebuilder Taylor Morrison. Another is The Ancient Oak Gun Club which flaunts 24 sporting clays shooting stations on two distinct courses. It also features a five-stand for shotgun shooting enthusiasts.

The 2014 Tour also serves as a kick off a season with a full schedule of lifestyle activities. Lined up are Music on Main, which is held every first Friday of the month, the Florida Balloon Festival, the Harvest Moon sports clay shooting tournament, and the Winterfest at Lakewood Ranch set for February 2015. A slew of sports competitions are also regularly hosted at the LWR’s Premier Sports Campus which features 22 full-sized, mixed-use playing fields.

Clubs boost lifestyle activities

Besides the many LWR amenities, there are 45 different social and special interest clubs in the master-planned development which further stimulate community activities. These groups, which also hold an annual Club Day in October, are open to all Lakewood Ranch residents, whether living in a new village or an older community.

Among these groups are the 14-year old Lakewood Ranch Art Club and the Lakewood Ranch Garden Club. Other LWR groups are devoted to adult soccer, adventure travel, fishing, scuba, ballroom dancing, civic action and for senior citizens.

In terms of 2014 sales, Lakewood Ranch appears well positioned to maintain its ranking among the top 10 selling master planned in the U.S. which it achieved in 2013 for the third consecutive year. As of September, sales in the 8,500-acre master-planned community totaled 369 for new homes alone. Prior to the LWR 2014 home tour, more than 16,000 potential buyers have also visited the builder models and the development’s information centers.
