More Homes Set at West Villages


 

SARASOTA, FLORIDA, April 29, 2018 – The developers of West Villages now has the opportunity to increase its density to 16,400 homes from the current 16,000 approved for this burgeoning improvement district in North Port.

This option to have an additional 400 West Villages homes for sale follows the North Port City Commission approval this April of amendments to the zoning and comprehensive plan map of the master development. The rezoning involves the 20 acres the West Villages developers acquired from the Diocese of Venice last year which have been incorporated into the development and designated as its Village E.

Building Frenzy

The 20-acre parcel is located off south of U.S. 41, east of West Villages Parkway and west of River Road. The improvement district acquired it in a land swap-purchase in May 2017 which also gave to the diocese 46 acres off the River Road ‒ U.S. 41 southeastern intersection where a new church campus of the Diocese of Venice is now planned to be built.

Building activity in this West Villages area is already humming, particularly at the site of the future spring training facility of the Atlanta Braves. Construction workers in March began laying the foundation of the $100 million ballpark complex and have erected clubhouse walls and stadium columns.

Just northwest of this training complex, the West Villages developers are also girding for the construction of a 105,000-square-foot shopping center anchored on a Publix Super Market It would be one of the main features of a walkable town center at the southwest quadrant of U.S. 41 and West Villages Parkway that would also provide dining and entertainment facilities.
