New UTC Entertainment Hub Sweetens Sarasota Home Picks

SARASOTA, FLORIDA, June 28th, 2016 – Folks who recently picked Sarasota homes for sale in the Meadows Country Club, Las Palmas at Sarasota, and other communities near the University Town Center (UTC) should now be happy with their choices even more.

Near these neighborhoods, an intricate tapestry of amenities will soon be accessible in the planned entertainment center of the Mall at UTC. Renderings of these facilities were presented during the 2016 annual conference of the International Council of Shopping Centers held in Las Vegas in May 2016.

The mall’s upcoming new highlight, dubbed as “The East District,” is expected to break ground in 2017, according to Mark Chait, leasing executive director of Benderson Development Co., the UTC shopping center’s developer. The district is planned not only for life and leisure activities but also residential and commercial uses. Eventually, it could have as many as 1,750 residential units plus 500 hotel rooms and a mix of high-end restaurants, shops and offices.

Walkability Advantage

New UTC Entertainment Hub Sweetens Sarasota Home Picks

Located at the UTC’s southeast corner, the district will showcase a canal slicing through the middle of the mixed-use development. Two ponds on the northern flank of Cattlemen Road, which links to nearby Nathan Benderson Park, are also woven into this project. A number of bridges are also planned over the canal, and the project’s overall design indicates walkability as one the district’s major selling points.

Customer traffic to the district is expected to be driven by an iPic luxury movie theater and restaurant at its northern end. The district’s renderings also show an outdoor concert venue, while both sides of the canal are lined by shops and restaurants. Moderately sized residential towers and hotels complete The East District’s ensemble.

The specific tenants coming into The East District are yet to be announced. Saying that the project has been well received, Chait indicated though that these retailers, restaurants, and entertainment-based businesses will be newcomers in the Sarasota-Bradenton market.

A Boon for New Home Sales Listing

All these enticing features promise additional charm to Sarasota homes for sale in neighboring residential communities such as The Meadows Country Club just west of The Entertainment District. The Meadows, one of the well-established Sarasota golf communities, currently offers a pair of attractively priced new listings.

One of these is a two-bedroom home with a floor area of about 1,600 square feet priced near the mid-$200s. The other is a three-bedroom residence with a floor area of 1,842 square feet and a tag price in the low $400s. Besides its golf links, The Meadows has tennis facilities which have been rated amongst the nation’s top 20. Its other amenities include a junior Olympic swimming pool and a spacious fitness center.

Townhouse Options

Home purchase opportunities are as exciting at the nearby Las Palmas of Sarasota, a townhouse-type condominium complex. It also features two units amongst new listings of Sarasota condos for sale, both of which are priced in the $100s range. These are choices from one- and two-bedroom configurations having floor plans of 960 and 1,182 square feet.

Striking in its Mediterranean-inspired architectural design, this complex offers two clubhouses, two fitness rooms, tennis courts, two swimming pools, a Jacuzzi, and a sauna. Ownership of a unit at Las Palmas is likewise bundled with access to a kid’s playground, two outdoor kitchens, barbecue areas, and of course, the upcoming delights at the neighboring The Entertainment District of UTC.
