Palms Golf Club Revives Fortunes at Forest Lakes

SARASOTA, FLORIDA, March 16th, 2016 – Residents and homeowners of the neighborhoods at Forest Lakes around Beneva Road and Webber Street southeast of Sarasota downtown are cheering their good fortunes these days.

The grand reopening in March 2016 of the community’s newly renovated golf course got a warm reception and more. It not only attracted plenty of player bookings but also drew good media coverage both in print and broadcast exposure that certainly helped further buoy values and market interest in residential properties at Forest Lakes listed amongst Sarasota homes for sale.

A Fun Golfing Destination

Palms Golf Club Revives Fortunes at Forest Lakes

Formerly known as Forest Lakes Country Club and closed for nearly 10 years, it was rebranded as Palms Golf Club at Forest Lakes and reoriented as a family-friendly and beginner-friendly golfing destination. Registration for club membership was reported picking up well prior to the links’ inaugural. Notably, the club is now limited to just 200 members who can avail of its reinvigorated golf course and new amenities.

Facilities set for the Palms Golf Club include an 8,500-square-foot clubhouse with a pool, spa, restaurant, bar, cabanas, outdoor deck and pro shop. The club is reserving some 2,200 square feet at the clubhouse as the home of the junior golfers’ group First Tee of Sarasota/Manatee currently based at Potter Park, Central Sarasota Parkway.

Fun and inviting for golfers of all ages and abilities, Palms Golf Club provides a large practice area with the customary chipping and putting greens. Its unique draw though is a custom aqua driving range with green targets floating in an acre-sized lake.

The entire layout of the course was also redesigned to allow busy folks to steal a round of golf in their schedules. At 4,545 yards from the back tees, play here remains at 18 holes but at a shorter par 64, with eight par 4 holes, nine par 3s and one at par 5.

Opportune Entry for the Enclave

The shorter course also opened 24 acres for the townhouses and villas of the Enclave at Forest Lakes which were likewise warmly received recently as exciting additions to the inventory of Sarasota homes for sale. Their developer, Canada-based builder Mattamy Homes, presented four models of these residences in a well-attended open house in February of 2016, impressing visitors with their coastal- and craftsman-style architecture.

These homes range in size from 1,548 to 1,936 square feet which offer flexibility in their two- or three-bedroom ground plans. A two-bedroom Enclave end-unit has already been listed in the MLS of Sarasota homes for sale at a pre-construction price approaching $295,000.

Spurred no doubt by the revival of its golf course, market activity of pre-owned homes in Forest Lakes is quite vibrant in recent months. Three homes were already sold here since this January, with one deal closed after only 16 days of the property’s market listing. Prospective buyers can still catch some affordably priced Forest Lakes homes for sale starting in the $100s, featuring two bedrooms within floor plans of between 1,230 and 1,850 square feet. Resale three-bedroom homes in this community with floor areas of about 2,000 square feet are typically priced in the $300s.
