SARASOTA, FLORIDA, February 22nd, 2016 – Leadership in green building continues to come on strong amongst the factors shaping a robust future of the real estate sector in Sarasota.

On the heels of the accolades that the region’s pristine beaches and quality of living received in 2015, local builders and architects again placed Sarasota in the limelight with big wins during the International Builders Show of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) held this January 19‒22, 2016, in Las Vegas. Sarasota-based Josh Wynne Construction paced the winners, bagging the Platinum in the Best in American Living Award (BALA) for the custom and green national categories.

A modernist home, Lotus on Orange, again did it for this builder which earlier copped for the same custom build the Golden Aurora Award in the 2015 Southeast Building Conference. This award-winning new construction is located in the historic Bungalow Heights, a district also known for its collection of charming pre-owned Sarasota homes for sale.

Josh Wynne Construction’s Lotus on Orange took over the site of a vintage ranch home which was demolished with most of its building materials going to a recycling facility. The builder collaborated in this project with the Leader Design Studio for the architectural rendering and with SAWA Design for the interior styling. These two outfits jointly hold fort at the historic Waterworks building in Sarasota’s Rosemary District which has been earning a reputation lately as a hub for the crème de la crème of home designers.

A solar-powered home in Siesta Key built by Michael K. Walker and Associates from the designs of Inbar Architect was likewise amongst builds which earned honors in the four-day NAHB Las Vegas show. This residence, owned by the Kaye family, came in as one of the finalists in the Best in Green (BIG) category of BALA and eventually copped the Gold Award.

Located at the West of the Trail domain of many high-end Sarasota homes for sale, this residence earned its high marks with a presentation, shape, and scale adaptive to its surroundings. Besides designing award-winning single family homes, DSDG is likewise a standout for its award-winning condominium designs, one of which is for the Golden Gate Point Peninsula’s One88 condo recently cited as SRQ Magazine’s Best Residential Building Complex.
