Venice East is a large residential development located north of the Tamiami Trail (U.S. 41). This community’s acreage spreads east of Jacaranda Boulevard, with a smaller neighborhood, Woodmere Lakes, wedged on its western side.

The 18-hole, 2,781-yard Venice East Golf Course on U.S. 41 flanks the southwestern border of this property. Its main road is Venice East Boulevard. This corridor traverses a sizable chunk of Venice real estate, as it stretches for over 2 miles from U.S. 41 all the way north to Center Road.

Construction of Venice East homes for sale underwent several stages starting from the early 1960s, with the U.S. Land Corp. as its first developer. It completed a total of 126 residences, after which Gulf Stream Development Corp. took over and began building here in the early 1970s.

Venice East was notably widely promoted in those years across the Florida real estate market. Targeted specifically then were international home buyers, with this campaign leading to the construction of Spanish, Italian, and Chinese, model houses on Golf Club Lane next to the greens and fairways of the Venice East Golf Course.

Venice East grew to a total of 895 homes, with most of these constructed during the 1970s. There are a few residences though which were built as recent as the 2000s.

Venice East takes pride in its active homeowners’ association wherein membership is voluntary and its fee at an affordable $20 annually. The recent projects of the Venice Community Association include a makeover of the community’s U.S. 41 entrance for which it was able to secure a grant from Sarasota County.

It likewise negotiated with the Florida Department of Transportation for the installation of traffic lights in the community’s Venice East Boulevard entry on U.S. 41. Residents have also been granted permission to use golf carts within the community. Venice East’s acreage has notably been declared a bird sanctuary too.

Listings of Venice East homes for sale typically start from the high $100s and top at the $300s. These residential choices feature floor plans of between 1,000 and 2,350 square feet designed with two to four bedrooms.

Closer to home even, Alligator Creek is a nearby point of interest that helps enhance the quality of life for residents. This creek features a trail and is navigable to paddlers. It starts from Woodmere Park a short distance from the western border of Venice East. A stretch of the creek is actually north of this community’s neighborhood on Bellaire Drive where a lake is also located and well cared for by nearby homeowners.

The semi-private Venice East Golf Course just south of the community is for certain a source of delight for its residents. This layout which covers 52 acres was built in 1961, its establishment nearly at the same track as the growth of the Venice East residential community.
