Calusa Lakes is spread out on 460 lushly forested acres replete with 28 sparkling lakes, and stunning landscaping displaying many of Florida’s indigenous plants species. Located within easy access to State Road 41 and Interstate 75, a quick 20 minute drive north is Sarasota.

The Inlets of Nokomis is a boating community with an extensive canal that slices through the middle of its acreage and three shorter parallel waterways that connect to it.

Shakett Creek Pointe is a high-end, gated community in Nokomis. As its name suggests, this community sits on a peninsula on the 2.8-mile Shakett Creek. Many of the residences have private swimming pools, and all have boat docks on Shakett Creek right in their backyards.

Sorrento Shores is a unique residential development just off west of the Tamiami Trail in south Sarasota County. Sorrento Shores is a true boaters’ haven with most of its waterfront properties having private docks. The community likewise boasts of a neighborhood marina with its boat slips available to residents on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sorrento East is a large community in Nokomis, enjoying a central location between the cities of Sarasota to the north and Venice to the south. Several lakes have been incorporated in the development of Sorrento East. These water features provide not only a scenic neighborhood setting but also open opportunities for some recreational fishing. Sorrento East is comprised of about 700 homes built mostly between the early 1970s and the 1980s. Newer builds as recent as 2016, however, occasionally become available.

Heron Bay Club is a small waterfront community in Osprey. Heron Bay Club occupies 10 acres directly off the shoreline of Little Sarasota Bay and fronting the northern part of Casey Key. Featuring 25 single story residences, all except for one unit of these are paired villas. All of Heron Bay Club’s homes provide water views.

Sorrento South is an amazing community in Nokomis with many residences on the waterfront, sitting either next to Blackburn Bay or adjacent next to one of the community’s saltwater canals. Homeowners of non-waterfront properties can take advantage of the 42-dock marina of the Sorrento Dock Owners Association.

Lakeside Plantation consists of four neighborhoods each of which has its own homeowners’ association and residential styles. The residents of the community enjoy various amenities include a 6,000-square-foot clubhouse featuring a conference room, card lounge, and billiards room. In addition, the community provides a swimming pool and spa, as well as a playground, picnic area, and courts for basketball, tennis, and bocce ball.

Willowbend’s developer, Lee Wetherington Homes, rendered it as an eco-friendly community, which is quite fitting as its acreage spreads adjacent to the Oscar Scherer State Park. Willowbend was set on a 128-acre parcel and developed with water conservation designed into its landscaping. This was undertaken through a partnership with the Oscar Scherer State Park.

Sabal Trace is a community in the south Sarasota city of North Port. Prospective buyers of pre-owned homes for sale in Sabal Trace have options of single family homes and multifamily condos consisting of villas and condos.
